2008 MARYLAND JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS PROGRAM

USTA’s Junior Team Tennis (JTT) program is the largest youth team tennis league in America.  Just like other popular recreational youth sports leagues, JTT emphasizes fun, teamwork, and friendly competition.  Teams can advance to USTA state, sectional, or even national championships.

BENEFITS:

Fun and Flexibility. Join an existing league, or form your own. Two or three small teams are all you need to get started. Teams are coed and made up of at least six players within an age group and skill level.  Team practices keep kids learning, and team matches give them a place to apply what they’ve learned.

From Tots to Teens, Everyone Can Get in the Game. USTA’s new QuickStart play format enables 8U and 10U kids to play matches with modified scoring on a smaller court. Regular categories of play on a standard-sized court are 12U, 14U, and 18U, with Intermediate (3.0 and below) and Advanced (3.5 and above).

USTA Junior Membership. “Official” USTA Junior Team Tennis league players are USTA Junior members.  For just $18 a year, juniors receive USTA’s SMASH magazine, a personal membership card, merchandise discounts, and are eligible for sanctioned tournament play. Join online at www.usta.com or call 1-800-990-USTA.

TennisLink Keeps You Organized. Just like USTA Adult Leagues, JTT programs use TennisLink for online registration, match scheduling, score reporting, viewing match results, and collecting local league fees. The TennisLink administrative fee is about $3 per player per season.

T-shirts and Tennis Balls. New programs receive free t-shirts for kids and coaches, plus balls to use for matches and practices.
